I am a voice over talent moving my studio to a larger "noisy room." This room has hard wood floors and is located next to a fairly busy street (this is my only option...). I have looked on line at many voacl booths but unfortunately I havent included 3000 + in my budget. My father in law is very handy and I'm sure he could build something great but I am having trouble finding plans/material lists etc. I need to keep noise in and achieve a completely dead room/box/whatever. There is no closet in the room btw. Any ideas? I have lots of good foam and about a month before the move.

Steve,
GOT it! Thanks for the reply.
I am a voice over talent moving my studio from Charleston, SC to Richmond, VA at the end of the month. Because I do only voice overs I am only concerned with the room the mike will be in, therefore need to build a vocal booth. The new room I will be moving into will be pretty noisy, hard wood floors, etc. The room is also located on a fairly busy street. My father in law is very handy and I'm sure he could build something great (he's in Richmond now and can build in the house before I get there). I need to keep noise in and achieve a completely dead room/box/whatever. I have acoustic foam.
I'm in the research phase but need the booth completed by last week in July.
I'm not loud (just vocal work) but it's important to keep noise out of the booth. The room: 13x12, 8 foot ceilings and less than 40 feet from a moderately busy street.
Currently the room has hard wood floors (I will be carpeting in the next 2 weeks to keep sound down).
All walls are typical drywall.
The room has no non-parallel features. No closets either. There are 2 doors leading to the room. French doors and a standard door.
My budget is under 500 if possible. I could probably do up to 800 if I had to.
Questions:
1) I was planning on building a 4x4' box using 2x6's for the frame and insulating with 31 insulation (I don't know if thats the name, but it's pink and the guys at Lowes pointed it out). What is th cheapest way to insolate this booth to keep noise out?
2) I was planning on piping air in from a duct in the room using a large vent in the side of the booth and tubing. will that work?
3) Here is the link I have sent my father in law to build the booth. He is picking out materials now. Does this look right,l or would you suggest any modifications? http://www.surfnoise.com/vocal_booth.htm
Thanks VERY much for your time!
