Basement Studio

Hello, I am Mike. I live a little North of Boston I have included a sketchup file of the dimensions of my basement. I want to have a demo/home studio. I have all the equipment already. The basement area is unfinished, and I can pretty much do anything inside it. I was thinking of something like (1) live room, (1) control room I think this is a fair amount of space. I record my band (4 piece hard rock band, think Alice in Chains/Guns N' Roses) I also track all instruments by myself for my own ideas. The live room I want to be a litteraly live room, not dead. I would like the live room to be bigger than the control room, as my band rehearses, so the live room would have to double as a rehersal room. Thanks for any help! -Mike

If I could make this layout, to my dimensions, and make the live room bigger, I think this would be an ideal choice. Regards, Mike

Hi Mike - could you please update your location into your profile - it helps to know where you are at the end of the thread as well as the front. to have a live room like you describe you will need to break up the parallel walls and add as much angular components as possible. here's an idea for you. cheers john

VERY nice! Thanks alot John! that design looks perfect. Would it be a worthy cause to make the walls a 2 leaf design? I am going to take a fe wpictures of the area as it is now, and then I would be very happy with further evaluation.

John- or anyone, is that TV you put in the control room for video production? I am only doing music, and I am confuzed as I have never seen a music studio with a TV there. (sorry for being nieve)

It was part of the component I imported to create the model - video post control rooms have them.
