Just a note to say thanks John for the great forum. Also thanks to Ethan and Knightfly who I have gathered info from on many hours of reading. I am about 2/3 of the way through treating my bedroom studio. Just a 1 room job using large amount of broadband absorbers being used across corners and at first reflection points. Anyway, I just played a CD on my dynaudios and the difference is HUUUUUUUUGE!!!, tight bass, clear imaging. Its awesome, and I've still got 2 more 4" traps to make and a cloud to put up. To any who are wondering "is it worth the money?" This is the best $500Aus that I've ever spent on my studio. No questions. My monitors are like different speakers! This made more of a difference than anything i've bought. Cant wait to get recording. thanks again. Peter
Sounds great m8...care to link to the article that describes exactly WHAT you have done in there? :D
Hi, I dont have a link to anything on the forum - I haven't really needed to talk about it much on the forum, I read up on other peoples situations and matched the stuff told to them that would suit my studio, I ended up using doubled up 50mm (100mm total) 32kg/m3 semi rigid in pine frames: *2.4x1.2m broadband corner traps across the front corners of the room (floor to ceiling). *more corner traps across all ceiling-wall intersections. *Cloud over mix position *2.0x1.2m Rear wall trap - 100mm off wall. *small 50mm absorbers at first reflection points of speakers on side and front walls. all of these are non-reflective to high frequencies because of my small room (4.0x3.5x3.0m). There is still plenty of bare wall space so its not completely dead. I may add some small diffusers over sections of the traps if I start to feel like im in a padded cell. :P
Congratulations ! Pictures are always appreciated. :) Andre
Thanks for that Peter - It really demonstrates how much treatment is needed relative to the size of the room and the surface areas involved. I've so often seen people on this forum saying they have added treatment but it still doesn't sound right yet they started with a room twice your size and added half the treatment, be it along the style of what you've built, or in Auralex or Ethan's panels. cheers john
