Hello to everyone my name is Matt and I am from Detroit Michigan. I have an existing structure on the back of my 2 car attached garage. I have wanted to turn this into a proper acoustic enviroment to mix and create music in since I purchased the house 2 years ago. Now the first question I have is wether or not this is a proper sized and designed room to do it in. I have found a few designs here on the forum that are similar to that room, only not the same construction. The room is made of 2 brick walls, one that is connected to the house and one that is connected to the back wall of the garage. These used to be the outside walls of the house before this room was added on. The other 2 walls are constructed of wood, 2 x 4s for the studs spaced 14 inches apart and particle board for the walls. Those walls then have siding on the outside so the studs are exposed on the inside. No insulation. The roof has a slope that starts at 9'2" and goes down to 8'7". Now I am not looking to Sound Proof the room majorly, just some insulation and drywall. I dont record live instruments here much and my neighbors are a good distance away. My main concern is an enviorment that I can mix and hear properly in. I have included a 3D Sketchup model. Thanks!

Thats a good size room for mixing. If your not recording live instruments and isolation isnt a factor the materials your walls are made of now deosnt matter much. You just need to read the SAE site and start gathering the material to build about 4 good corner traps, some sort of cloud over the mix desk and wall units for reflections. If your handy and know how to build the slat aborbers that would be good too.
