yes, i live in a rented apartment and have no place of installing a booth in the rooms so geniously iv came up with turning my tiolette into a recording booth. dont worry in case of the 1 and 2s il use my other toilette :D Now my question is how i should soundproof this project ? i got a toilette, a sink and a mirror, thses items i thought should easily be "proofed" by throwin a cloth on them or something beside the mirror which i will remove. I dont know a damn thing about sound proof so all small hints are appretiated ! Btw an additonell question is the ventilation. Its a small hole ventilation, my consurne is my neighbours i dont want them to be disturbed so should i also cover the ventilation ? as long as i dont pass out it isnt a problemfor me.... please help me fuffill a dream, how should i soundproff my toilette ? the walls are concrete and the door is wood... theres also holes above the door that work like a little ventilation also should i cover them up to ? what kind of soundproofing do i need ? do i also need to install wooden boards and how about the ceiling and the floor ? should i soundproof the ceiling and have a carpet on the floor ? i got neighbours above and below me... hope for answeres soon. Thank you
i forgott. the booth is just gonna be for vocals, no instrumentes or anything like that, but still soundproofed so i can record late at night without wakin up the whole building :)
I've heard that you can turn a bathroom into a vocal booth, but the singing will sound like sh*t.... or is that smell like sh*t... Sorry... Anyway, I don't know what you can do, but I think you need to register with specifics, like location, region, etc., before anyone good will respond to your posts.... check the 'stickies' section for more details... in particular, see 'before you post'.... K
SOund proofing is quite involved. SO much so, your toilet wont be a toilet. I read your post and I hear that you want treatment. Easier to accomplish without a major overhaul of your facility. But Proofing?? If you dont wanna wake everyone up, be a smooth jazz singer. Seriously....Unless you plan on ripping out the toilet, you are not gonna SOUNDPROOF that room.
okey... see this is were my head blocks the view of what your saying... i mean a toilette is non the less a room, so therefor for soundprooofing it shoudln´t be anymore diffucult then any other room right ? after little reaserch i found out that the only neighbours is below and above me so the walls are outgoing to the rest of the apartment, but ofcourse if it would sound like "shit" then theres no point in investing in it... im torn
Here is where your english confuses me. Take a picture of your area and post it for us. Soundproofing a room is standard, but you have a toilet in there so you will be making a soundproof bathroom basically. A waste if you ask me unless you built it from the ground up as such. AND... U didnt update your profile. so..... :x
i salute the senior haha  sorry for my english but its street edition basics hah... anyways your words has influenced me to shit on the toilette plans, seems like too much work and like giles sais evan if i succed the sound can turn out to be horrible... so now i have discoverd a wardrobe... like a 4x4, i really thank everybody that has tryed to put their input so one last thought before i go go... how much should i isolate the wardrobe to get the otpimal sound and lowest price ? seniors like giles input are much appretiated :D
This is a joke right?
thx giles

Are these rooms actually good? It seems that they are knock-down units, and as I have been led to understand, portability is a dubious thing when concerning 'soundproofing'.... Furthermore, where is he going to put the plumbing for the toilette? lol.
