Hello, I'm new here... and I was hoping you guys could help me design my studio... I tried to read up on the rules and such, because while I'm new here, I'm a part of several different forums around the web, and I know how frusterating it is when you have some newbie asking the same question over and over again and somehow manages to constantly break all of the rules in a single post. So, I hope I'm following all the rules here. :| I'm going to copy and paste my post from a different forum, (http://www.studio-central.com) I hope that's not a problem. Here it is.
If I forgot any details please tell me and I'll post with them right away. Thanks.So... I have a large, unfi... wait, I already said that. :P Well, yeah. I'll try to keep this short. I would like to turn it into a studio; not just for me, but also to (hopefully) turn it into a business. You know... that I get paid for... studio time... you get it. Anyway, it doesn't have HVAC, walls, or a ceiling; it's pretty much just the floor. Since the drywall and such isn't up yet, this would be the best time for me to soundproof it. (Well, when I put the drywall up would be the best time, that is.) I can build the rest of this room "around" my future studio. Now, I don't have a lot of money... at all... but by the time I have the money to finish my upstairs I should be able to spend a couple thousand (if I really have to spend that much) to get some decent soundproofing up there as well. And yes, I know... it's an upper room, so this means the floor needs to be soundproofed as well. But there's nothing I can do about that. It's the only room in my house I could possibly use if I get someone with a live band. The room is 18' X 23'. But even with all that space, a drum set, two electric guitars, a bass guitar, mics and the band members themself's, not to mention me and my gear will be crowded enough! And it'll be the last day on earth when I turn my garage into a studio. Anyway, I've already rambled on way longer than I wanted to, so on to the pics. I put descriptions in them of how I was thinking I was going to set things up. From the first to the last picture, it goes around the room clockwise starting from the back left corner, or about 2 o' clock. If you look at the sides of each picture, you can easily get a feel for the layout of the room because they're slightly overlaped. (You can see the same pipe in the right of one picture as you can in the left of the next, for example.) The last picture is of the outside of the room. (The outside of my house.) It makes it a little easier to understand the layout. http://img317.imageshack.us/img317/24/pic18lv.th.jpg http://img462.imageshack.us/img462/182/pic26ut.th.jpg http://img317.imageshack.us/img317/4469/pic34qf.th.jpg http://img317.imageshack.us/img317/3976/pic40ci.th.jpg http://img462.imageshack.us/img462/3079/pic58ic.th.jpg http://img317.imageshack.us/img317/8519/pic69wi.th.jpg http://img462.imageshack.us/img462/4366/pic74om.th.jpg http://img317.imageshack.us/img317/4300/pic86nb.th.jpg http://img317.imageshack.us/img317/401/pic91rw.th.jpg So, what do you think of all my ideas? The in-wall rackmounting, the storage/machine areas, the door and stairs, ect. Do you have any comments or suggestions for me? (Because I really have no clue how to "build" a studio room.) And most importanly, can someone please help me figure out how I would soundproof it? Thanks a lot. Sorry I ran on so long... but I really would like some help... Rain P.S. Also sorry that the text in the pictures are blurry. They weren't when I had them as BMPs, but those were too big so I had to convert them to JPGs.
