Is there any chart, rule of thumb or known principles written down that specifically state that: X material, at Y thickness, will result in the a reduction of Z Db of sound at a given frequency? Examples I am most interested in are:
1) Concrete Walls (solid) @ 6", 8" and 12"
2) Cinder Block Walls
3) 1/2" Sheet of Drywall & 5/8" Sheet of Drywall
4) Same as #3 but plywood or MDF
5) R-11 Insulation, R-15 Insualtion & Rockwool
I'm in the midst of planning a studio construction in a townhome, and would like to have some realistic expectations of the "soundproof-ed-ness" of the construction BEFORE I start adding layers to it. Thanks!
Sound Blocking Capability Chart?

Yes. Check out Institute for Research in Construction > Indoor Environment > Research > Acoustics. (This is one of the items linked in the fabulous "Reference Area" sticky thread.)
