First off, what program do you guys use to draw the sketches of your rooms? It would probably be easier to see my problem if I made a sketch, but anyway... My studio is on the second floor of a cape cod style house so my cielings are slanted in. There are 4 foot knee walls on opposite sides of the room and the ceiling is 7 1/2'. The length is 12'. The width is 14'. The height varies but the highest point on the ceiling is 7 1/2'. Also in this room is a big brick wall that is just on one side of the room becasue that is where the fireplace runs up. I am very confused on how I would arrange my equiptment in this room because of all of the unusaul things. I am also confused on how I would acousticly tune this room because of the slanted walls. If somebody could please give me some direction, it would be greatly appreciated.
thanks, but how do I do a layout of the interior? I can only figure out how to build 3-D models, but I can't dp anything on the inside. help please.
I think i found out how to do it... Any suggestions on how I should arrange this and where I should put bass traps and such?? Thanks Again. the first link is the working one. something happened to the second one...

Nelson - I assume that the roof line continues out to the full size of the building and the 4' wall is a false wall. You could remove the wall surface (drywall or timber I assume) and open up the triangular space behind, fill with insul or hangers and put a cloth front on it. This would give you some trapping space without affecting the room size. cheers john
thanks for your reply, but I don't think my parents are gonna let me rip apart my room like that :x. The 4' knee wall in that room is hard to work with, especially with the angled ceiling. Do you have any suggestions on a better way to arrange my setup without having to do any major construction?? Oh and how would the brick wall and the angled ceilings affect the sound waves? Are they good or bad??
Nelson - get some quality insulation like 703 and put it and your gear where I've shown. Woops - forgot your amp - if you put at the bottom of the room near he drums it will be deader than in the front near your desk. cheers john

Wow! Thanks alot John!!! I'm still a little bit confused on where I would put my amp. Would it be better for it to be dead?? And what would I do with the angled ceiling? Just leave it alone??
well put the amp where it sound best for the track - sometimes it may need to be dead sometimes live. Moveit around a bit and try the different places. I'd leave the ceiling for the moment - if the treatment isn't enough we may have to look at it later. cheers john
I was in the middle of rearranging my room to your plan when I realized that your model was not to the scale that my original drawing was in. The result of this was that my bed stuck out in the middle of the room and there was no room to place the control desk or the drums. If you could remake a model to around the scale of my original model, that would help me loads. Thanks alot John.
I made it to your scale - it's a rework of your original in the same scale. cheers john
Oh ok. For some reason, the bed in your model looked a lot smaller. Thanks again John!!
The bed in the drawing was to scale I thought ;) It measured 7'3" x 6' which is a standard double bed. cheers john
