I'm in the process of a big studio build atm.
I was fitting some rockwool onto the walls of our control room recently and was suprised how much it affected me. Despite wearing a mask and some rubber gloves the fibres got everywhere and left me feeling like I had eaten a cactus!
The inside walls of the control room will be left open with the rockwool covered by some hessian fabric.
I am a bit concerned that some fibres will easily become airborne and cause irritation again so have been thinking of ideas. I read the sticky thread about rockwool but have another idea.
How about spraying the rockwool with some hairspray? This would hold the smaller fibres pretty well?
just a thought - would it be okay?
is this solution okay for containing rockwool fibres?

Hmmmm...I wonder how long the hair spray would last holding the fibers?
Also, I wonder what effect the spray would have on the insulation?
However, I'm with you on the fibers...check this out...Knightfly gives a nice suggestion concerning this topic

Is this the "sticky" you were talking about? (Just making sure)

That's an interesting idea you have. I wish I could help, but I'll leave this one for the Pro's on this site.
People have used horticultural fleece and polyester batting with good success.
thanks for that. The room does have an air supply and separate return, but that wouldn't stop fibres from being disrupted if someone brushed into the wall or something. I'm going to look into something like what Kinightfly suggested since I didn't think that the effect of the hairspray would diminish!! Anyone know of any everlasting hairspray?! :)Hmmmm...I wonder how long the hair spray would last holding the fibers? Also, I wonder what effect the spray would have on the insulation? that's a good idea AND it is pretty cheap. I'll look into it. I presume it is fine enough to prevent fibres from passing through?People have used horticultural fleece and polyester batting with good success.
