Hi,
I am djoki and I have been reading this forum since I finished my first garage/studio conversion.
Bevor I started the garage/ studio conversion I was running to get some knowledge about acoustic insulation because my main problem at that time was to get in no conflict with my neighbours. There was no time left to get some knowledge about room acoustics because i was under pressure to finish it. This is now 1,5 Yaers ago... I started some actions to fix the acoustic problem but never reached the goal.
The goal ist that I have a room wich is acousticly good threated so that I can make the final mix bevor it goes to a mastering studio.
I would not like to spend more than 1500 € wich is 1900 $.
1) Is this possible?
Before a moderator pushes the thread in the acoustic forum I want to say that the situation changed.
Now i have a second garage next to the one I all ready got. :D
It should be my recording room for percussion, bass and for the most important thing ..the vocals.
I’m not really shure how i should design Bitangas Cave and i hope you can help me with it.
Let’s take a look at the pictures...
....out of our kitchen window on the garages...

Measuring Results
Garage 1 was measured by some engineers I paid. The engineers brougt an absorber to check what works in the room.
It was this one...
The best result came when they put the absorber on the ceeling... I think you call this cloud....The FLAXORBER absorbs disturbing reflections from walls. It´s compositon of materials and it´s special frame-design smoothly covers a wide frequency range from high treble down to mid-bass. The ramp-construction with a thickness from 16 to 9 centimeters enures linear broad-band response also provides a great optical apparence to your facility. It´s dimensions are 150 x 80 x 16 (9) cm Wrapped into a special acoustic garment it looks as it sounds: simply beautyful. http://www.digitalaudioservice.de/cms/m ... france.pdf

Some more informations:
My neighbours only heare the basses when i turn up the max volume i work with. I think i have to live with it and don't turn up at night.
I have rented the garages for 5 years (minimum this is fixed) and if i leave the place i have to take all out.
This is one reason why i would not like to put a window between the garages. i thnk about using a camara to be in visual contact with the recording room. The second reason is...when you look at the rear view of the garages you see that the walls are of concrete blocks with metalstuds in between.
I want to integrate aircondition because it is gettin to fast stuffy.
I think about to soffit the speakers.
The weakest point of all is the height of the garages. It's about 220,5 cm and scales down to 205,5 cm at the end. When I put 10 cm insulation+ sheetrock on the ceeling and make some 5 cm floor treatment and a "cloud".... there is not much hight left. It is gonna be something like a cockpit.

In sketchup model I did not realize the down scale of the height but all other draws are very close to reality.
Bitangas Cave.. How it is now (.skp)
Bitangas Cave.. in future (.skp) (I added O300 Speakers of K+H with wich I want to work with)
What you think?
