wall (live room to control room) - double layer of 1/2" gyproc (staggered seams) on RC; - 2"x4" wood studded wall on 16" centres; - 4" air gap - 2"x4" wood studded wall on 16" centres (staggered in relation to the "live room" studs) - double layer of 5/8 gyproc (staggered seams) NOT on RC. Question: Should we insulate (fibreglass) BOTH walls or just one? Maybe 2 different types of insulation? We had originally planned on 'glassin just one of the walls in favor of a larger air gap between the walls. Thanks in advance. ~Kevin (Jazzman's Engineer)
the air gap is still considered to be there with both walls filled with insulation. so yes you want to fill both walls with insulation
Kevin - RC is of no benefit when there is only one side of a stud wall with drywall. It only helps when there is only one stud wall with drywall BOTH sides. i.e. You don't need it. cheers john
