Should I, or should I not split up this room. I have a garage in our currently being built house which measures 24'3"x11'4" which is planned for the studio. The control room is in an adjoining room which measures 13'6"x12'4" and there will also be a booth measuring 5'5"x7'8".
My question is, should I split up the larger studio room into (2) spaces or leave it as one large space. I really plan to do a lot of live band recording and want to have the best seperation of instruments as possible, but I don't want to compromise the best possible acoustic environment which can be created in this space.
The layout shows the space. The office area will be deleted for the sake of a larger recording area which is mor important to me at this time.
Thanks for suggestions and advice...

1 large room or 2 smaller spaces?

To me it actually looks like you've got enough space to justify two seperate rooms. If you're planning on doing a lot of live recording it would really help. That control room is as big as mine. My live room is slightly bigger at 29' X 16'.
I'll wait for the big wig to answer, but I have an idea they'll say something similar.
Thanks SonicClang for the response. Yeah I'd like to set up a drum set and leave it in a fairly live enviroment and have the other room with varying treatments for different textures...
I think differnet people will give you differing opinions on this. I'm pretty sure Ethan Winner will tell you to keep it one room, but from my personal experience I wouldn't be able to do half of what I can do right now if I didn't have seperate rooms, and my space isn't much bigger than yours. If you only record by yourself most of the time one room works better.
Up until now it's pretty much been a "one man band", but the productions I'm taking on require live bands. I've been renting out other studios which of course cut's into the budget. So setting up this new studio gives me some freedom in design.
