Hello All.
First off I would like to thank everyone that contributes to this forum, it has been unbelievable resource.
We are planning to build an approx 1000sf studio in southern California. We don't have a space yet, we are trying to get a budget together at the moment. The last project I did got out of control really quick and cost way too much money. So I am trying to be smart and get everything together before we start.
Attached is a drawing I did based off of designs I like. I quess what I am looking for is:
1. Is this design correct acoustically?
2. We are thinking of doing a "Double Wall Steel Stud" design for the walls.
Does any one know an approx cost per square foot? We are planning on doing a lot of the framing ourselves and then hiring a crew for the drywall install.
These are my first big questions, there will be lots more. :D
Our budget is 50k - 80k (if possible)
Thanks!

Planning a new build, need some advice

Are you sure you want to have to go through Iso 1 to get in and out of the control room?
If you only have a single main entry door, what's the advantage of a double door on the live room? I would think you'd just want to do a single door to the live room that would match the width of your main entry door.
With the exception of the office/kitchen area, which can act as a sound lock, you'll need opposing doors between rooms throughout.
But since you don't have a building yet, you'll probably be better off waiting until you have one (or at least one in mind specifically) so that you can post a diagram of its layout. Every building is different, with its own unique challenges in terms of entrance points, utility access, pathways to restroom(s), etc.

Ya the double doors are useless. It was an after thought that I forgot to erase.
The doors are something we will have to figure out when we decide on a location. So you would need two doors for every entry. Wow, that is some cash...
Is there a way to do double wall construction around the CR and just single everywhere else?
sharward, you're in NoCal did you build a commercial facility? If so, what were the permits and codes you had to deal with.
