hi there, let me first say i appreciate everything. you guys are the best.
i know that it is best to have no contact at all, but in order to benefit from a double window for TL, is there a minimum length that the 2 walls have to remain seperate from the window casing out in all 4 directions, (maintaining no framing bridging/conecting the channel or 2 walls)
thankyou so much
double window constuction

Nope; windows are pretty much just walls you can see through; a single leaf of glass gets beat by a spaced double leaf, even if it's only a couple of feet wide.
Naturally, it's better to have two fully independent leaves with insulation between for ANY sound barrier, but even a single frame wall with panels on both sides is better than having panels on only ONE side.
Windows, partly due to their lack of insulation for damping, can benefit by having vents between the panes leading into the surrounding, insulated, wall cavities - I don't have specs on how much, but this will let the window "breathe" which will lessen the amount of sound that passes through the window slightly...
