Hi there!
Well, first message, I guess.
I have already built my home studio. I have soundproofed 2 walls and floor. My question is how and where should I place my ner-fields, etc.
You see a plan of the room. Walls 2 and 3 are soundproofed and covered with extra wall. Wall 1 is not soundproofed and covered with cork, 4mm thick. Measurements are as follows: (sorry, no inches in Spain..) Wall 1 is 4 m. long. Wall 2 is 2,30 and wall 3 is 3,40 m. All are 2,50 m. tall. On wall 2 there is a window (1,30 x 1,50 tall). The square you see is a wardrobe.
My idea is to have all stuff facing wall 3, but I know it might be better to settle everything on wall 2, as there will be more space on the rear.
I would like to know if its possible to have everything on wall 3 if there are not many reflections.
Walls 2 and 3 have different materials than wall 1, so I dont know if this might be an issue.
Well, by the moment, this is it.
Regards from Spain.

Couple of things - one, you need to edit your profile so Spain shows up with every post - eventually, we'll have to go back to your first post to find out where you are in order to suggest things that may actually be available in your area...
Two, did you try to post a drawing? Nothing shows up with your post, if you need help with this just ask... Steve
Ja man!
Here it goes...
Well, maybe just an advice on which wall is better to place the near-fields.
To me, best option is wall 3.
Will I get too many reflections? Or is it not that important?...
Cheers!
Aloha,
The majority of designs I've seen on this forum tend to have the monitors firing down the longest wall, which in your case would be from wall #2. Reducing the amount of relections in the mix position is very important, hence the term RFZ (reflection free zone) when designing control rooms. (see attachment) A lot of info can be found here: http://www.saecollege.de/reference_material/index.html (especially under the acoustics, absorption and construction tabs at left and again at the top of the pages) Hope this helps, Aloha 8)Well, maybe just an advice on which wall is better to place the near-fields. I don't have a suggestion for your monitors, but I do have a question. Why did you put cork on a wall? It offers nothing for acoustics and nothing for soundproofing.
Hey, thanks a lot.
Why cork? I dont know, Reflections are lower, but you are right, no soundproofing. Also, not very nice...
I suppose a beginners mistake.
Aloha,
I meant to include this link with the earlier post: http://www.johnlsayers.com/HR/index1.htm

Thanks again,
Clear by now Im going to need some bass traps and absorbers, etc.
Would you reccomend one of the kits from Auralex? For my room size, the smallest one will do.
I can also get some bass traps in a local shop, but I guess they will not give me the same quality. Cheap, but good?
I can get a kit in about 2-3 weeks. Please let me know what you think (whoever)
Regards.
Aloha,
Not having used their products in my studio treatments, I couldn't say. However, it's been said here several times that in most instances, the DIY panel traps suggested here: http://www.johnlsayers.com/HR/index1.htm can do the the job as good if not better than any store bought products, and more often than not for less $$$ (depending on how much the material is in your area and your level of DIY skills.)Would you reccomend one of the kits from Auralex?
Oddly enough, the smaller the room, the more LF absorption is needed. Take a look at the attached graph to see what areas you'll be needed to treat and where to avoid positioning yourself. For my room size, the smallest one will do.
See above. If you care to, you can check out the guidance and approach I took, and the results. http://johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic ... ght=#15598 http://johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4091 Aloha 8)I can also get some bass traps in a local shop, but I guess they will not give me the same quality.
