Hey Guys, I am glad to see someone who knows how give some truthful good advice. I am building 2 recording studios. Studio A will be for bands, Individuals, groups & etc. I will be using the Digidesign Icon D System with Protools in that studio. Studio B will be for Karaoke recording and that type format. We will use a Roland VS-2480CD in that studio. What I am confused with is all the Building material and such. Since I am not a contractor (Most of them do not know about sound proofing) I need Help. Attached is a Layout I came up with and I would like to see what you guys think. The store front is a Karaoke Sales, Supplies, Electronics, Sound reinforcement and etc. with also Studio B in it. Behind it is Studio A With its layout. and the rest of the store. What I would like to know is: 1.) Is this layout possible 2.) If not, what would you recommend? 3.) What would you recommend in building materials( Floor, Ceiling, Walls etc.) and positioning? 5.) I have seen Quietsolutions, What else do you recommend? 6.) What do you recommend for large glass and doors? 7.) I would appreciate any help you guys can. Right now all that is in it is a concrete floor, 40' of store front glass and 76' of drywall on each side. Thanks, thedoctoroffun

the recording booths will undoubtly leak some sound unless u realy realy realy build them well, especially the drum recording booth with has SPL levels of 120db sometimes...try moving the booths away from the trackingroom, vocalist booths could be possible but make sure ur room is SYMETRICAL, wich it isn't rite now...rethink ur layout first, make ur recording room bigger to fit booths and have some space left over too
How tall is the ceiling and in a room that size (being a builder) there should be support pillars unless there is structural steel holding up the roof that makes it possible to clear span the entire area. If there are support pillars we need to roughly know the exact location of them. how thick are your walls (all of them). If the entire Area is Clear spanned try something like this maybe
