First, I just want to thank everyone who has contributed to this site. It is an amazing resource for so many and i have not found any other that compares, so THANK YOU!
now, down to business. myself and three of my friends are planning on building a studio here in cincinnati, oh. Our location is one half of the third floor of a 1959 warehouse building with thick (at least 6") concrete floors, and 8" concrete block walls(not sure if they are filled or not). the building is supported by 2 ft diameter concrete beams that are indicated in the diagram as well as a freight elevator to transport gear. There are 5'x5' windows on the East & South walls which we plan to fill with glass block. the building is located in an industrial area, so we do not have any neighboring buildings closer than 500 feet. there are train tracks to the West about 1,000 ft away. closest main road is at least 700 ft away as well. the biggest noise problem will be us, we must not disturb the businesses in the other half of the building as well as the floor below us. our ceiling height is 19 ft and the floor below us has a ceiling height of 16 ft.
as far as budget goes, we have decided to focus the majority of our finances on construction and build up our gear as we get more gigs. we also have a hook-up with a building supply company where we can get supplies at cost (which helps us greatly) we have approximately $20,000-$25,000 for our budget. We plan on running new electric & HVAC for our use. Again, we can get a discount on this as well.
the work we plan on recording is from singer songwriter to full on metal bands. with this in mind, i tried to design a nice large live end dead end (LEDE) tracking room to accomodate a full band as well as multiple iso rooms to obtain isolation when needed. I have also tried to design these rooms to maintain visual contact between all rooms. there is no need for us to encorporate a lounge in this design, as we have a lounge exclusively for our use and shared restrooms on the North side of the elevator. all pictures are orientated so that North is top.
i have submitted multiple pics to make it easier to see exactly what we invision.
I don't necessarioly have a specific question at this point, i am mainly looking for any feedback (good or bad). though i have been reading and researching as much as i can, i am still new to this aspect (designing) and am open to any suggestions.
Thanks in advance.

Need Feedback On New Studio Design

Looks like a nice sized space; do you have contact with the engineer who would know what the load ratings are for floors? If you need good isolation, this will be critical info... Steve
Thanks for the reply Steve. I appreciate the time all of you devote to this site.
Unfortunately, we have not been able to get that info (load ratings) yet. I do know that the building was originally used as a paper mill wharehouse. When we walked through it, we had brought a contracter with us and he seemed to be under the impression that we would be able to float floors without any problems. Honestly, I'm about as dumb as they get when it comes to this stuff. As soon as i can get answer for you, I will though.
As far as the designs I've made in SketchUp, do you see any major flaws that i should be aware of? I'm looking for as much feedback as possible at this point.
Thanks Again
Chris
Only that it seems like a bit more chopped up than necessary; but I don't have firsthand view of the space, or pix - might be the best you can do. I like a good-sized drum room, that upper left iso should be really good for that... Steve
