My house will be modified soon, so the place where I record will be my bedroom now. I want to use this space for recording purposes. The room is 14x16x8.20. It now looks like the drawing attached, everything will removed, the window will be replaced by a wall. I´m willing to have ctrl and live room plus a bedroom , if this isn´t possible I could sleep in the ctrl room. :D I need enough space in the live room to place my drumkit and for one or two more people in case the band play live. I´m working that way now recording demos for local bands, I want to take the chance to improve the place where I record. Could you help me with some ideas about how to divide this room to be 3 in 1, I mean CR, live and bed room??. Thanks TS

"so far away" isn't gonna get it for location - this is a world wide resource, and location is necessary so we can hopefully give USEFUL info. Please redo your profile so we can try again - thanks... Steve

Ups, sorry about that. Profile updated. Thanks TS
Hope you can give me a hand to solve my problem. Thanks in advance TS
I personally would NOT divide a room that small; you'll end up with two VERY small, claustrophobic and unfriendly rooms. I think you'd be better off setting up a 1-room facility, probably using a few movable acoustic treatments during mixdowns and placing them around the drum kit while recording. Are you concerned with sound isolation from neighbors, family, etc, or just fitting everything in and having it sound good? Steve
Thanks Steve, right now I´m evaluating a chance to build up a little apartment in the fourth floor so the first floor room could be for recording purposes. If this is the case would you divide it??. Isolation is needed, I working with two bands right now and I´m disturbing them. I don´t know if there are "isolation levels" but I do know that complete isolation is almost impossible. What I want is to reduce the incoming and outcoming sound to a 70%-80%. I think 50% could be a good starting point from what I have now. Thanks Alfonso
 bump
I working with two bands right now and I´m disturbing them You're distubing the bands you're working with, or someone else? If it's someone else you're disturbing, where are they - upstairs, next room, next building, ?? And no, I'd NOT cut that room up any smaller, only exception might be if you MUST have a vocal booth. Any larger piece of the space walled off, and you have no room to move or work... Steve

Basically it´s a little difficult to hear how the drums sound through cans being so close to them. Another problem I have is when I crank up guitar amps players can´t listen well through cans, the sound from the cabinet is more powerfull than the one that come by headphones. That´s what happens inside. Standing behind the drums (look the drawing, please), my family is located upstairs, in front, and to the left. To the right there´s an empty house right now, the window that is behind my drums will be replaced by a concrete wall. Outside a car will be parked. What about ventilation??. The new concrete wall should have a little window or not??. Thanks Alfonso
Here you have the suggested treatment that the room should have, as the architect said. Room dimensions: width: 13 ft lenght: 16 ft height: 8 ft What´d you think???. Do you notice something wrong with it??. As I said the room is in the first floor, so I don´t know if a false floor (double floor) ?? is needed??. Hope you can give me your comments. Thanks Alfonso

That's a good starting point,,, I would recommend to build some pads or buy some for the kick drum and bass amp (auralex sells these I know) to avoid vibration passing into the lower floor. I also since this for tracking room or a practising room you should use some diffusers, particularly on the ceiling. They don't hurt you know ? :-) :-)
