Hi, We are currently converting a Garage into a project studio. I attached two pics! All the rooms are fixed, but the desk is moveable obviously! Can anyone think of a better placement? I thought aabout traeting all the side wall and ceiling reflections with Rock Wool as described by Ethan Winer. What should i do to the vocal booth? Just make it really dead? The dimensions are: Garage: 4.61m x 5.75m Vocal Booth: 1.75m x 1.47m Toilet: 1.04mx 1.74m height: 2.15m Thanks a lot for your help!

no one? I forgot to add: The budget is about 500 Pounds max. All we wanna do is improve the current situation if possible. The room sounds very reverberant and reflective. A life room apart from the vocal booth is not needed. I thought about treatting all the walls of the vocal booth with rockwool slabs, basically make it really dead sounding. Is that any good? Thanks Jorg
Hmmm....111 clicks and still no answer! Well, let's try sumthing easier then: Is it ok to have more bass traps on one side than on the other? Or should it be symmetrical?
Aloha and welcome to the forum, jorggrad :D Sorry you've not had a lot of response. :( Since no one else has chimed in, might I offer a question/suggestion?

Is the vocal booth location absolutely non-negotiable? I think you could have a better layout if it were located in another spot. Aloha 8)

Hi, Thanks a lot for your response! Unfortunately the vocal booth can't be moved because it has been installed unmoveable before I started helping my friend out. :( Replacing it and rebuilding it would basically eat up all the budget now.
Aloha J,

From what I've read, and have been advised, yes, dead is better. However, what you do want to do is avoid having a "square" booth.
Be careful, a dead square booth will have low end issues (you'll hear the issues on your mic.) Bryan Giles FOH Live, Live Remote & Studio Engineer Producer
Yeah, 4x5x7 feet inside dim's is about the best modal compromise for a small booth - Steve (Knightfly)
As for your control room area, perhaps you could try a modular approach using the wall units at http://www.johnlsayers.com/HR/index1.htm This is the approach I based my acoustic treatments from. If you care to check it out you can find it here: http://johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic ... ght=#15598 and here: http://johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4091 Hope this helps, Aloha 8)
