8 inch clouds - following superchunk logic

I will be putting some clouds in my room soon. Typical advice seems to be 4" thick, hung 4" or so from ceiling. Following the superchunk idea of filling in all the way to the wall, why not make clouds 8" thick and mount directly on ceiling? Any thoughts? THX
Don't bother with the 4" airgap. At the relevant frequencies, the additional LF absorption is not significant. If you want to use that space, use 7" or 8" of SAFB type material doubled up. Cheaper than 703 and beter absorption all round! Andre
