have been researching and looking .... Found this on the web.. 4x8 sheets of Quietrock cost around $120.00 but their STC. rating is impressive..they have a THX rated product thats 1 3/8" thick at $240.00 a sheet.. alittle over the top but equal to 17 sheets of rock ( according to them) in any case does this new layered material change any thinking or the traditional layered methods are far more cheaper and get the job done..any thoughts? The product is called Quietrock and can be found at quietsolutions.com
Has anyone had experience with a produst called Quietrock?

Not cost effective at all, please do search on this site to find more info. Carefully compare there STC ratings to other charts (like this one http://www.saecollege.de/reference_mate ... 0Chart.htm ) as well, the numbers might be true but the way they compare STC of walls is "fuzzy math". Same for anorther company who makes Mass Dense Vinyle.
And if you haven't been there yet please, check out forum guidelines:

Do a search on this forum for "quietrock" (all one word) and you'll see this overpriced product has been discussed a lot.
tanx for the info i'm new to this site..i'll look more on site before i post
No prob, F.R. - welcome to the site, it's more than a little convoluted - I have a hard time finding things sometimes, and I prob'ly WROTE 'em :? ... Grampa Steve (x3)
I don't know too much about this one, but maybe it's less expensive..

Hmmmm... No specs... :?
I seriously looked into Quiet Solutions when building the Click Track Audio mobile truck.
As much as these guys were willing to help us, the price was outlandishly high. As well, they didn't have any suppliers in Canada meaning we'd pay through the nose for border issues.
As well the requirements they placed on the construction seemed overly restrictive in order to get a real solution. That would have caused us EXTRA fees in overtime if we wanted our builder to adhere to all of the requirements. Whereas they would be able to build a standard isolated vehicle wall in, say, a day, it would take roughly 1.5 times longer to build the same wall following these techniques....we're doing this on a very limited budget and quiet solutions priced themselves out of the market.
Interesting product...but too bad.
I talked w/ the Supress people today & they wouldn't divulge what is in their "secret sauce" that makes it 8X as good as regular rock...it's not cheap & I wanted some answers !! $123 a 4x8 sheet @ my local lumber store...
FYI> the supress guy was hard pressed to sell his gear, but he did mention that the drywall doesn't do well below 125 ie: kick & bass guitar...& those are my main issues! so is it really worth $3k to line my studio??
I have all the PDF's on the specs if anyone wants em!
Not necessary; your best bet to get the isolation you want at a price that won't kill your beer budget for the next two decades, is to follow the common mass-air-mass construction techniques covered here in nearly every thread. Standard drywall on double frames takes more time because of having to do multiple layers, but 3 layers of 4x8 5/8" gypsum wallboard only costs about $25 (per side, 4x8 section) vs. $125 or so, and 3 layers of rock on the outer sides of a double frame wall will kick any of the specialty products' ass... if you scroll down to the bottom of the page they added sound clips. The clips of the original walls don't sound right??
any way... Is it really $100+ a sheet? What model#? Wonder if it would be better to use 2 layers of drywall and green glue. (DIY Quietrock??) no room to build double walls. maybe even go with 1/2" plywood<>drywall<>green glue<>drywall.

I'll keep searching the site
I think the formula you posted is better for less money. Green Glue is "the real deal," but be aware that isn't cheap either. It takes two tubes costing about $20 each (including shipping) to fully cover a 4' x 8' sheet of drywall. You can get away with using less Green Glue (as little as one tube per 4' x 8' sheet), but there is a cost in terms of effectiveness. It's easy to use too.

on searching.......someone mentioned "SikaFlex"
humm? :?:A local and highly respected acoustician is advising me to use SikaFlex rather than Green Glue. He claims to have used both and says "SikaFlex is just as good". So, anyone in here have any experience with both and want to weigh in?
