Greets all, My father is building a two-story garage. The bottom floor will be used to store cars, and the top floor will be used for a project studio. The dimensions of the building will be 40'l x 24'w by 18'h. Basically, I would just like some suggestions as to how much of the upper lever I should devote to a control room, and how much to the recording room. The E and W walls will come in at a 45 degree angle about 3 feet up from the floor on the upper level, coming to a peak in the middle. I realize these are not ideal conditions for a studio, but it's all I have to work with. I will mostly be recording rock music. Hopefully this is enough info. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!
Hey colorblind, I'm pretty new hear but make sure you look at Johns studio plans: http://www.saecollege.de/reference_mate ... /Plans.htm An adaption of the garage studio may work for you?? You may be able to work the 45 degree angle of your ceiling to your advantage. There are a few threads on hear about similiar rooms. Do a search for them, maybe try "ceiling angle" Don't forget the entire http://www.johnlsayers.com/ which also has many pics of studios being built. And most important: http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3231 For me all of the above takes more then one read to grasp everything. I'm still reading. Make sure you do full searches through this forum before asking to many questions as a lot have already been answered. I usually can find answers to most of my questions before I post, then the few times I do post a question, I end up answering it my self through more reading and searching. AND you did not mention weather it's the long or the wide walls that are at the 45 degree angle. Good luck Marc
The long walls are the ones that are angled. I'll check out the links. Thanks.
