In about 4 months, the house me and my wife will be moving into will be remodeled & rennovated significantly. The house is medium-size, 2 bedroom, office/library, living, dining, 1 bath, and a 1 car garage. I want to design and remodel the garage into a good home studio that's professional enough to help local artists and make a little extra on the side. I will be investing around $15K into the studio. Here are the specs:
The garage is 9 feet wide and 15 feet long. The ceiling is 8-10 ft...still deciding if I want vaulted ceiling for acoustics. The area before you walk into the garage is 9 feet wide & 5 feet long. I think this would be the perfect area for the Control room. This used to be the washer & dryer room.
Is there any similar examples in design, acoustic, studio setup that anyone can provide me? I just need a step in the right direction. I'm a classical, jazz, & rock trained keyboardist who's somewhat proficient in Pro Tools LE wanting to get my certification and move up in the world of sound engineering.
Any help would be appreiciated.
Thanks,
Steve from Dallas

I appreciate the fast response. I have looked through those posts and it has given me a better idea of how to design my studio. I have also downloaded Sketchup and will make sure to have more detailed images of what I'm proposing to do next time. I love new projects and this one is going to rattle my brain more than I can expect.
