Hi All, Let me first start by saying that i have been reding this forum for quite a while, and have been trying to get around to fixing my "control" room. There is a weath of information here, and usually i'd rather try to search out for anwsers rather than post and take up others' valuable time. Thank you in advance for all your help. I have included a sketchup file that i did today just as a guide for room dimensions. The basic room is 11' 11" x 18' 6" x 7'2" Ceiling height, there are 5 doorways, and two window openings in the room. One window is dual slanted glass into my "live" room, the other is a 68" bay window to outside, covered by a projection screen. Floors are hardwood, two walls are concrete block with framing and insulation covered by drywall, these are the outside wall withthe bay window and the other window wall. The other walls are sheetrock both sides with insulation in between. each doorway has doors that can be closed except the one indicated. My speaker cones are 46" from the floor, i sit 76" from the wall, 42" from each cone. Currently i have no acoustic absorbtion in the room, and my mixes actually translate quite well, but when i walk around the room, i can hear very obvious nulls. I guess i'd like to get the room to where it sounds decent everywhere, and possibly get a more accurate mixing position. My first question would be where it would be suggested to have my monitors, whether the area i'm in is good, or if they need to be moved. I can move pretty much anywhere in the room. Second question is if i'm planning on making DIY broadband absorbers, where would the likely areas be to place them? I plan on all the corners, and then 2'x8' on all walls spaced 1' apart and 2" off the wall, then also the same on the ceiling. I will be using rockwool 4" thick covered in burlap. And lastly, the little room on the side is my bathroom/iso room. the entrance has no actual door, but there is one for the room (hard to explain) its a big square box in the corner....would it be best to build a door here, or use something of an acoustic curtain? There is a significant amount of LF buildup in that corner. My budget prolly isn't important for these questions, but i's like to stay around $1000 for any fixes i may need to make, and the DIY Absorbers. Once again thank you in advance for any advice!! Andy PS, i hope i included all the info you need, but if any more is needed, i can get it to you quickly

it's been a while since i posted this and no replies, if theres a better way to ask these questions, i would love to do it, i'm pretty stuck, as i've been on tour for three months, and i have five days to fix this before i have to start tracking a pretty decent sized project... I have picked up 21 panels of 2'x4'x4" mineral wool and i'm going to start making absorbers tomorrow....i guess my main concern would be my mix position....and any nulls that may exist thank you for any help you can give Andy
Andy - there are too many doors to account for - which are important?? Cheers john
As for doors the most important is the one on the same wall as the console, any of the others can be blocked off at any point. Thanks again!
so could you try something like this??
