Hey everybody, first post here and I hope there are many more to come. ..This weekend I have a basement contractor coming and he requested I present him with some design plans for the studio portion of the basement. What I've worked out so far is a 11 1/2 ft. (@ widest points) width X 11ft depth control room, and a 13ft (@widest points) width X 17 1/2 ft. depth (@furthest points) live room w/ Iso booth. The iso booth is (5ft 10in. door to door X 5 ft. 3in.). All cielings are 8 ft. in height from slab concrete floor to the studs. I've included a sketch up design of the studio area below for reference. I hope everyone here can help answer the questions I have and I look forward to posting picture updates once the contruction begins.
Control Room
- are the dimensions and angles for the control room ok?
-Right now i have the wall behind the monitors and the two back corners to be built with rigid fiberglass and covered with a black fabric. What exactly would be needed for the front wall and the corners so I could tell the contractor what I would like done? Is what I have planned ok or is there a better way to accomplish the goal?
-What should be done for the side walls of the control room?
- the entry to the live room is a sliding door - will this adversely effect the control room acoustics, and what type of sliding door should I tell the contractor to use?
Live Room
- are the dimensions and angles ok?
- how should i treat this room, and where should the treatments go? A list of products and where to place them would be helpful so I will be able to show the contractor what I want.
- where will I be able to get decently soundproofed doors that are reasonably priced?
ISO booth
- This room will be used to Mic Gtr. Cabs and to record vocals - what sound treatment should I use? Should I buy Ethan's Real Traps and use those?
- Is the S.T.O.P. window from acoustical surfaces.com ok to use as the window? link is here http://www.acousticalsurfaces.com/acous ... w.htm?d=40 ok to use as the window?
Also if there are any good types of cieling tiles that anyone could recommend to absorb a lot of the sound that would be great as well. The flooring being used will be a wood laminate...how should it be installed on the concrete slab efficiently for studio work?
Thank you very much for your time,
Jeremy
