Hi everyone, Ive been looking at this web site for a while reading and searching for info, ive especially been trying to find some plans for a complete studio but cannot find what i am looking for. Im hoping that you can help with the design of a completely new studio that is being purpose built and thus has not limitations on shape or space. Is there a set of plans here for the perfect modest size studio on this board? The studio will be in the UK, in countryside with little outside noise. It will have a main control room, main studio, secondary recording studio or booth for small setups/vocals. office, toilet, tech room. Im looking for any info on a general setup for HVAC, electrics, power, shape/form etc. I have looked but there does not seem to be a complete set of plans that covers the above. If anyone can help me or point me in th right direction it would be very much appreciated. Is there anyone here who is or has created a purpose built building for a studio in its entirity from scratch, ie not renovation or bedroom/garage conversion? I would be interested to make contact with you. Thanks to everyone on this board. Jojo
jojo, in your reading you've apparently missed this http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3231 even though it's titled " DON'T EVEN think ABOUT POSTING before you READ THIS..." - I know you're looking for more/different things than most of our members, but there are still a few things in that post that apply - for example, editing your profile so your location appears in the sidebar - also, things like budget, skills, etc - I usually don't get over here into the Design side all that much (little time) but I'm pretty sure the reason you've not gotten an answer is that you've not followed the forum guidelines - a thorough reading of that link will explain why they're necessary... Ok, sorry, point taken. The project is to design and build a new studio on a virgin piece of ground on the outskirts of London. The local area is very quiet and there are no neibours to upset. I want to build the studio out of straw bales, which is something I have experience of but not for building a recording studio. I will use the straw bale wall for the exterior and prhaps use plasterboarded stud walls where needed on the inside. The aim is crate a building which will contain the main control room and recording space, recording booth or smaller recording room, toilet and tech room and possibly room for an office. Size is not crititcal but it doesnt want to be over big and while there is a big enough budget we are defiantly not talking millionares, far from it. In my mind I am thinking of a total control and recording room space of 40- 50 m2 but it can be bigger or smaller if the plan calls for it. My background is as a builder, im looking forward to the increased level of workmanship required to get it right. I was wondering if there was anywhere on this site where I could find plans that described the "ideal" studo layout around which this studio could be designed. Using materials and techniques which are not top spec or ultra exspensive but not necissarily budjet either. Im thinkig of using a combination of A/C to keep rooms cool but Im a fan of undefloor heating to be run of of solar panels prehaps, soa combianation of the two is what i am thinkig about. Im getting my head around the proper way to earth the electrics and seperat elements of of each phase of a 3 phase system seperatly grounded (i think) Ive tried looking around the links provided but I seem to find my way to forum discussesions about the best way to do it and some disagreement. I was hoping there was a resource somewhere that spelt out plainly and clearly a basic ideal strategy and approach. Hope this is more like it! I should have been more careful with my first post. thanks for your feed back and help Jojo
