Hi everyone! Thanks a lot in advance for any ideas you might share with me. I really really appreciate it! :D I just bought and industrial unit of 115 m2 (377 sq feet). It is 15 x 7,35 x 6 meters (49 x 24 x 19,5 feet). Here's some pics. I'm planning to build a (comercial) recording studio with: - Control Room - Big Live Room - Booth (for amps and maybe singing) - Bathroom - Relaxing Area I don't think I'll need a kitchen since there are several restaurants around the place. My main concern is having a nice woody big room in which to record acoustic stuff and be able to have a nice natural sound, along with a control room that's confortable enough to fit a 6-member band and me without too much clashing!! :D I do mostly pop/rock, but also classical/ancient and also some comercials/films (5.1 will be implemented) The level of noise in the Live Room will be the one produced by a whole band playing together. The Units around are empty right now since the whole place is brand new, but I have to be ready for the worst (industrial machines and annoying stuff like that). I made some SketchUp plans with my ideas. Basically what I wanna do is add a Relaxing Area on top of the Control Room and make the Live Room really tall. Does that make any sense to you guys? Any further ideas? If you need any more details, just ask! Thank you all for keeping this site alive!! :D Jordi Gil.

AWESOME! That looks like it will be very cool. It will be interesting to follow along how your progress goes! Fill
Hi Fill! Yeah, I'm so excited. I'm gonna hire some professionals for the acoustics, because I really want to have a room that sounds killer. My main doubt now is if the design is all right or I could do it a bit better. You know, maybe I could find alternatives for better use of the space, making it more confortable and so on. Anyway, if you guys have any thoughts that you feel like sharing with me, I'll be so glad to give them a try!! :D Jordi.
Are you sure there is plumbing available for the bathroom? The pipe in the right corner looks like it may be a drain from the roof. -Tom
To be honest I have no idea. My knowledge on construction is equal to none. But I'm gonna ask an arquitect friend to check it out and I'll let you guys know. Thanks for the help, Tom!! Jordi.
Tom - that's a HUGE control room - it's not a good idea to have to go through the studio to get to the control room or the Bathroom - I'd run a hallway down the length of the building down the side for access. cheers john
John, What do you mean? The door would be just by the bathroom and control room. To access the studio you'll have to cross the control room, but that shouldn't be problem. Maybe I'm missing something here... Jordi
You'll have no interference and you don't have to worry about musicians banging up your room. I know from experience that sometimes musicians are not the most careful especially when moving an SVT 8x10 cabinet through my place. Tom
That makes sense Tom. I have to say I hate losing space for a hallway though, but I'll give it a try and let you guys know. Thanks again! Jordi.
