Hi , I am new to the forum and live in busy Athens, Greece ! where most people live in apartment buildings which are close or attached to one another separated by their own concrete walls. I am looking for a cost effective method to reduce the sound level of my drum kit within a room where I an unable to make structual changes. I have read some of the information in the forum but am still not sure how I can appropraitely achieve my objective: Some facts: - The room is about 25-30 sq metres and located at the top of an apartment bulding - there is one wooden door to the room located at the bottom of a staircase and another door next to my drum kit, which is aluminium frame with large glass panels, these are double glazed - There is lift/elevator also, therefore lift shaft - The walls and ceiling are made of concrete and the floor wood over concrete (I have put carpet under the drum kit) - The room is very full, including recording set up / in a wall unit, keyboards couch and small kitchen and a small enclosed bathroom - There are 2 windows 1 behind my drum kit and one opposite my drum kit which has wooden blinds with aluminium frame and are double glazed - The whole apartment building is occupied by family but the I have neigbours who are all around but not at the same level as the room, which has been built on top/addon of the existing apartment building. I came across these panels that claim to reduce the sound level signficantly. I cant fit a whole isolation booth in my space but was wondering if anyone had any experience with the sorber panels as depicted in the attached image or any options I may need to consider including soundproofing doors and windows. My priority is sound isolation rather that acoustics at this stage. Even though it would great to achieve both. Many thanks Aster Greece

Start here. Bottom line, without structural changes, I can't see any way for you to accomplish this. Perhaps an electronic drum kit is in your future. --Keith
So your saying the clearsonic panels are not agood invetsment in terms of sound reduction ? Are there no other options apart from structual changes? I am able to block up windows and doors I suppose.... but I cant start fixing things to the wall ceiling etc....any other ideas ? regards
Clearsonic are OK to reduce sound between drummer and other band members enough to make it less painful, but will NOT change the amount of sound that escapes the room. Where most of your construction is concrete already, that is good; Making plugs for windows would be the next step, also improving the seals on doors. Beyond that, there isn't anything that will make much of a difference except building a room inside a room. Your room's floor might take the extra weight, but it sounds like you don't have enough space as it is... Steve
