Typically if you go by the book and secure a building permit for your work, you will be able to get the records on your property to reflect the additional square footage, which should improve its value. And raise the property taxes you're paying too, by the way... :roll: ...full disclosure here. Them's the rules. To the contrary, if you don't get a permit, then you may actually make your properly less desirable on the open market due to the liabilities that the new ower would have to accept.
