I was wondering what things I would need to consider for designing a studio to record a jazz band or small classical ensemble? What equipment would be required?
Aloha GT, Welcome to the forum. Any chance you could edit your profile to include your location? (forum guidelines) It would help to know where you are as it sometimes determines the advice given due to availability, terminology and cost of materials. Thanks. One of the things I was recently reminded of when planning my studio build project was that "a room full of recording equipment does not necessarily a recording studio make." In other words, I had neglected to consider the room itself as an integral part of the whole. Hence, my need for instruction and advice from those gathered here. So, in regard to your question, could you provide a little more info on: -How much isolation you need from the outside world (neighbors, traffic, airport, trains passing, etc.) and/or perhaps they from you? - How big a band/ensemble will you be working with at any given time? - Will it be an all live session or would you be doing overdubs? - What kind of instruments/how many musicians will you be recording? - Do you have a rough idea/drawing/floor plan/location you could post? Hope these help to get the creative juices flowing. Aloha 8)
