Hi, I'm new here. I want to build a studio and I've been working on the design. I'm not happy with what I've come up with, so perhaps someone here could help. My first design (which I wish I could scan in right now) was pretty good, but was poor in control room design and had probably too many walls and angles and would be super expensive. My second has the ideal control room using the dimensions given from Auralex.com (http://www.acoustics101.com/common/acoustics101room.pdf) but the isolation rooms are poor I guess in placement and design. I've noticed some cool layouts here on the forums with a program called Sketchup. I've downloaded the trial, but I can't really get the feel of how to use it yet. Anyone want to take a stab at it? The room is 35'x35', needs a small lobby/hangout area which will be the front door, ideally a live room area, drum booth, a couple of isolation booths if possible, and a small direct entry area from rear door. Walls do not have to be separated due to space and financial confinements. Any help is appreciated. I'll post the plans i've already done soon if I can get to a scanner. Thanks!
A sketch really is needed so that door and window locations are known, along with ducting, beams, pillars, utilities, and other constraints.
