I was wondering if anyone can help me with a Control room layout?
I am not sure if I should build walls or just postion my monitor desk appropriately.
Hopefully you can read the attached drawing.
All dimensions are in feet.
The walls are drywalled and covered with wood panelling. There is also a drop ceiling with fiberglass ceiling tiles. 8"5 to top of upstairs floor.
I hope this is not too large, I am having trouble sizing it.
Newbie to the Forum.
Sorry.
Help with Control room Layout?

Yup, needs to be resized to no more than 700 pixels wide as per John's acute directive...
Can I re-size it now, or is it too late once it is posted?
If any one has any ideas for my room that would be great.
I was thinking of maybe facing the monitor desk to the corner and having the sound bounce down the hall?
Would that work if I placed some bass traps in the corners and diffusors on the wall.
I really don't want to have to build new walls.
I was thinking of stuffing the ceiling with 703 and then leaving the drop ceiling in place.
What does everyone think?
You can edit your post and upload a newer (smaller) version of the image.
Is this in a basement or????
I know you dont want to build any walls but I would finish enclosing that space where the control room meets with the wall to the furnace room....
Yes it is a basement.
I will shrink the drawing to 700 and post a few pics as well.
I guess I could build a wall inside the furnace wall to enclose the room.
Should I angle the corners of the wall?
Also should I stuff the ceiling with 703 or rock wool?
Then replace the drop ceiling or would it be better to install drywall on the ceiling?
Here is a drawing of the rooms size and some pictures.
The furnace room is the one with the couch against it with speaker mount's high on the wall. That wall is about 6 feet long and the hallway gap is about 7 feet. I may have to close off this room at that point.
The room is a little cluttered right now but you should get a good idea what I am up against.
The walls are drywalled behind the wood panelling. Their is brick in one corner to the right of the daw where there used to be a wood stove.
To the left their is a room 12 long by 9 with drums and to the left of the amp their is a bathroom.
The length to the furnace room from the back wall is 16"9.
If isolation is not your #1 concern, then rockwool in the ceiling is wonder ful.....
No need to angle the rear wall, just place bass traps....
any angles need to be up front.... check the DIY section of the website for the wall resonators....for your side walls...
Thanks for your help so far.
I am thinking the most economical solution might be to install some sound diffusors and bass traps from Auralux.
Has anyone tried there products.
Yeah, I have and it is hype and a siphon on your wallet for very marginal results....
Better off to read around the forum and use better products that cost less and are more effective.
Such as:
Rockwool/703/705
Should I build a wall where the furnace meets the hall?
Or does that only matter for isolation?
I would for controlling the sound. Basically anything that runs down that hallway will eventually come back into your control room to "haunt" you.....
However you may have a code issue if that is done. SO it might be better to build an absorption style gobo to wheel over the entrance whenn needed.....
