I am building a new room in my basement. This is the configuration. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how the shape of the room is going to affect the acoustics. The walls are drywall, the ceiling is acoustical and the floor is concrete right now. There is no treatment on the walls or corners right now. The picture posted was done with sketchup. Thanks to all!!!!

Sorry about the size of the pic. Will not happen again.
Resized the pic
Looks Good, if mix position is in the east wall (relative to your drawing) then you are doing great. The depth will allow for Bass w/'s to fully develop and be absorbed by that rear absorber. I am assuming the side wall unist are the angled slat resonators????the only thing I would add is absorption on the ceiling above mix position. :) Otherwise the only freq issue I think you might deal with would be around 400Hz or so.
Disregard[/list]
Can anyone help me with resizing the pics correctly? Thanks, TC
disregard
my posting skills have got to get better. Thanks for your patience. TC
Take yer time, we are a friendly bunch till people get rude and downright disrespectful and abusive of the rules......
Thanks giles, I resized the pic and yes the mix position is on the east wall. I dont have any treatment up yet, but do you think I need resonators or absorber on the side walls? Thanks, TC
Resonators on the side walls, just past your mix position (like a foot or so) to direct the reflected sound towards the rear of the room to be absorbed. Past that position do absorbers on the side walls :)
Bryan sumemd it up nicely. :D Andre
So Bryan, after I locate my mix position put the resonators a foot or so behind that location. Should I put an absorber between the resonator and the corner bass traps at the mix position? As you can see the short wall does not allow much room but the long wall does. Thanks, TC

Not quite what I said. LOL Place resonators starting just forward of the equipment position running to about 1 foot behind the mix position. If your monitors are mounted on stands place the resonators starting just in front of the face of the monitors running to one foot behind the mix position (where you will be sitting) then run Absorbers from that point on to the rear of the room. Hope that is clearer....
Ok, sorry, I understand completly now. Im trying to grasp a lot at this time on all this acoustics stuff and forgive me if I go brain dead sometimes. Much appreciated, TC
I have the option of having a sloped ceiling. 9' from east wall, slopes to 8' to about 1/2 the length of room. 8' from there to the back wall. Would there be any benefit to this configuration? Thanks for any feedback. TC
Nope; any sloped ceiling should be sloped UPWARD to the rear, not downward. Doing what you asked about will cause MORE early reflections at the mix position, and require more absorption on the ceiling than a flat ceiling would require... Steve
Thanks Steve, man you guys are great! Great forum. I really appreciate the help. TC
