Greetings, I'm a noob! I'm located in central Michigan USA. Nice forum you've got here. I hope to participate!
I'm building a 24 X 32 pole barn... 2 stall garage down and 14 x 32 up. I get a 14 x 10 chunk of the upstairs for my new studio.
Now my first question...
I apologize if this has been answered already, or if this in in the wrong Index, I figured it would be the place to start.
Is $5.00 a piece a good price for Kinetics IsoMax clips? Does anyone have an alternative?
I hope to post more detail about my studio project when time allows.
Thanks,
Farmer
Noobie here... New studio

Well, I finally found some time to update you guys on the progress of my studio. Thank you for your patience with me I have very little extra time but, I sincerely appreciate any help or opinions you may have on my project.
This is the project: I'm mainly an acoustic guitarist and amateur composer. I also use midi quite extensively.
I've had a bedroom studio for probably 15 years and finally had an opportunity to create an actual space for myself.
My wife and I purchased a nice little cottage on a lake in mid Michigan about 4 years ago but the place has no garage.
So, this year we were able to build a pole barn. This is a two level barn 24 X 32. The down is a two stall garage and up will be my wifes office and my studio. As you can see from my rather poor drawing skills I get 10 X 14 for my studio.
The structure is a pole barn, gambrel roof, 8' ceiling, 6" wall on gable and 4" walls on eaves and 4" wall separating studio and office.
The outside walls and roof are osb and vinly sided. The floor (decking) is 3/4" OSB. I am going to raise the studio area floor 3-1/2" (width of 2 X 4)
and pack (insulate) with... "something?" I will also insulate between the joists below the upper sub floor probably with the pink stuff.
I plan to use resiliant channel with 2 sheets 5/8" drywall on walls and one sheet on ceiling in studio only.
My biggest concerns are keeping outside environmental noise outside and my music inside. I don't record vocals but I want as quiet an environment
as possible for recording acoustic guitars and percussion. (no drums)
I haven't even considered laying out the inside of the room yet, I'm hoping you guys have some suggestions.
I have some pictures of the different stages of the main construction and some recent ones to show you at what stage the interior is in.
I hope to post when I have a chance (hopefully, this weekend).
Thanks a lot!
