Hi i was wondering if anyone could possibly help me in my research for one of my assignments at uni. Basically i have been asked to design a recording studio for small ensembles. Any general information, e.g.quipment, layout etc. would be great and any pointers regarding method would also be of help.
Cheers :)

so what is it that ive done wrong?
Well, ummm...I don't think you've really done anything wrong, per se. But the thing is, you haven't really done ANYthing yet.
If you follow the link Andre provided, and follow through a couple more links on the page that he linked to, you will eventually get to http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2125, which has lots of god information about designing rooms and facilities.
For the purposes of your assignment, you should probably start out by answering these two questions: How many players am I recording at the same time? And how big of a room do I need to record said number of players?
After you've answered those questioned, and read through the build and design info on the previously mentioned links, then you might want to try your hand a actually laying out a studio design.
Once you've done that, then come back, post what you came up with, and I'm sure many people will be more than happy to help you out with the stuff you didn't realize, or think of.
Designing a recording facility is a complex and time consuming task. I'm absolutly positive that your instrutor didn't realize te breadth of the assignment when he gave it (or mabey he did :) ). But if you follow through with the information provided then you will assuredly get a passing grade on the assignment.
I just hope that your instructor isnt a lurker here...
Then again, there's a big difference between "someone do my homework for me" and "here's my plan, let me know how I can make it better" -- I would think that an instructor would appreciate the collaborative nature of the research being done. 8)
Excellent responses from the oher two very helpful people here.
What did you do wrong? Well, after reading the linked post, you still did not even update your profile to include you location!
