I am gearing up to start working on my studio here shortly. This is a ROUGH idea of where i want to go with it. It is a crude blueprint, and not to scale but maybe the experts can help me out. I basically have 30x30 ft space in my basement, 8 ft tall ceilings, half of my basement cause the wife won't give me the other 30x30 chunk. Anyway i want my control room , a very small iso booth for vocals, and a relatively large drum room. If anybody can rework my rough idea or just give me some general pointers i would appreciate it because i am fairly new to this studio design thing. Thanks in advance.
I am planning to do the wood laminate flooring over the entire studio space, and was looking to try and keep the noise from going up through the ceiling so my wife can maintain her sanity. I live in the middle of nowhere so the nieghbor thing isn't an issue. I am unsure of what i want to do with the ceiling. I was thinking acoustic panels, like a drop ceiling but i don't know how great that would be, so any advicewill help.
I have also been looking into Quite Solutions drywall. they claim that a single half inch piece is the equivalent of 8 regular 1/2 inch drywall pieces back to back. Anyone ever heard of them.
The studio will be used mainly for my own projects, but occasionaly i will bring in the local bands to record.

Yeah, I'd love to hear if anyone's had experience with the Quiet Solution stuff. If it really works that well, it could be worth it in the labor time savings it could save over doing multiple drywall layers.
bump that. i'm interested to know as well. I've got to redo my ceiling, and and raising 16 sheets of drywall doesn't appease me!
Quiet Solution.....NOT. Do a search for QuietRock here. You may want to read THIS as well. Search....it's a wonderful thing.
Yep. Since I mentioned it, I'd found those threads.
Still, I appreciate the help.
Now, everyone, toss a couple of bucks to the "Make a Donation" button on the forum -- a tiny fraction of the money you saved by not buying any of that overpriced nonsense! :-)
Nice job on the quick link, O Wise One. 8)
