I have some money. I have good gear. I want the buildout to be done properly but I'll do whatever it takes to make it happen with my budget. I'm in southern california. My space is going to be about 1200-1500sq ft. The tracking room is going to have 15-20 ft. ceilings. I just need a good sized live room, an iso/vocal booth, control room, and a small lounge. What kind of dough would it take to fill that kind of build out? Please help! I wanna get this show on the road.

With your spelling skills, I don't know if I can read what you're saying. :D
what are you starting with? you haven't given even the barest of details. :)
do you have a building? or are you planning on building it from the ground up? are you including the price of the land in your budget :) :)
Let's see... A misplaced "space" and a letter dropped from "possible"-- both of which are likely typographical boo-boos and not a lack of spelling skills as you postulate -- and you "can't read" that? I suppose that's sarcasm... Please be kind and respectful to the kind and respectful folks here to are trying to help you. Frankly, you're not off to a very good start, username and emoticon notwithstanding. Ha, I was just joking around, lighten up. So I'm getting a commercial space. It's going to be an empty shell basically. I contacted FM Design. They quoted me about $20K for the plans, and about $150-$200K for the construction. Not that bad actually for a super pro studio. But I would like to spend less if possible.
I'm not trying to be funny Bro, but I'm just very unfamiliar with studio design and have NO IDEA where to start.. which is why I might not know much. I'm an engineer, not an acoustician or a studio designer, which is why I'm here. But thanks for the advice that I should be asking John S directly and not the people on the forum. But also, I've been re-thinking my whole plan and since I don't really want to blow my whole load on this studio, I'm going to do it a lot cheaper. After realizing all the local codes and permits I'd have to deal with, I rather just get a 500-700sq ft building, make a little control room, and have a small recording room. I don't deserve a full blown facility such as the one I was thinking of jumping into. Sorry for being a dick earlier, I just had bigger hopes and a smaller budget that isn't going to make it happen. So once I get my smaller space, I'll be asking you guys for help I'm sure. Until then, I guess I'll ask John S directly and maybe he can help my room come alive. Thanks for those of you who posted and once again, excuse my "arrogantbastard" behavior. Take it easy.
Forgiven. :) We're here to help you help yourself when you get some space. :mrgreen:Sorry for being a dick earlier . . . excuse my "arrogantbastard" behavior.
