I haven't posted for a while, sorry. My Indy project is still underway - the one with the weird old-style German construction. The roof has just been replaced on that building and I'm still doing foundation work (in case anyone is interested).. Well.... I have been given a footprint for a new building (in a different place) which will be about 10,000 sq ft of space - not all of it a studio, mind you. It WILL BE a metal building - I have no choice in this matter. The land will be purchased by someone else, and the construction paid for by several people, and they want the biggest bang for the buck. So a metal building it is. It is to house a lot of office space and other things, but about 1/3 of it will be given over for a studio. I am looking at a space about 50 ft. wide, 70 ft long, and a couple of stories high (22 ft) - possibly throughout, or possibly only along its peak, depending upon the budget they arrive at. It will have a tin roof, OF COURSE, and I do have the option of putting whatever walls I want around the space. I'm thinking about concrete block - filled with cement, removing air gaps. I'm not even worried about boundary #2 right now (interior boundary). I am concentrating on the outer boundary - how to make it as dense and tight as possible. A concrete slab will be the floor, but the ceiling! EGAD! Help! Anyone know about steel building construction? I-Beam columns holding up I-Beam beams, across which metal trusses are bolted. The ribbed roof lays right on top! No drawings available yet. In truth, I probably won't get my hands on them for a while.
No problems there mate, steel is just strong wood. get us some pics :) cheers john
