Hi all, still working on the plans for my basement studio and I had planned to do a staggered 2x6 ceiling in the basement as suggested by Paul White in his mini-book on studio building. This is where you have the room within a room and the ceiling's 2x6's are slipped in between the existing ceiling joists (and aren't touching them at all). The problem I'm noticing as I see construction go up on our house the small spacers to keep the joists from warping (in between the joists). Can these be taken out once the house is built? Would that be a big mistake? How can I tackle this problemo? Thanks for the help,
jef

I know this has been discussed on this forum, but I don't have time for an exhaustive search. I did find this thread which covers it somewhat (bottom of page 1 and top of page 2, and perhaps elsewhere in that thread too). Start there, and spend some good quality searching time.
Keith's Search Tip of the Day: use more than one search term, click the "Search for all terms" tag, and choose "posts" as the "Display as" parameter. Then you'll only spend hours searching instead of days. ;-)

Thanks Keith, and thanks for assuming that I didn't just post without searching (I'll take your search tips into consideration too!)

No problem at all, Jef.
The more popular this forum gets, the more posts it receives, and the more challenging it is to get clean search results.
I have the advantage of having been here a while, so often when I'm searching for something, I'm usually searching for something that I know I've seen before, -- which is a lot easier than searching for a needle in a haystack when you're not even sure there's a needle in it in the first place! ;-)
