OK, so this is my first post here, and I'd like to say thanks for all the info on this site. I wish I would have known about this site when I built my space 4 years ago. But I did use a lot of studio design books, and used some other online forums that turned me on to the wonders of RC and 703, so I'm not completely in the dark. So here's my question.
I'm in the process of putting together a business plan to open a full commercial facility. I'm planning on buying the land and doing a full ground-up purpose built construction, and I want to have a great space (I 'm mostly doing rock bands, but also some jazz and songwriter stuff). So here's what I'm looking for:
Good size tracking room
Good size control room
Two iso booths for guitars, drums, etc.
One VO booth (I do some commercial work)
Bathroom, kitchen, and lounge
Plenty of storage and possibly a machine room
An office or two
I like the thought of having an entrance at the front where you can't see into any of the rooms and an entance from the outside into the main tracking room for loading gear.
So, go nuts! I have no real space requirements, but I'd like to keep it between 2500 and 3500 sq. ft.
Thanks a lot for any advice you guys can give!

Go Nuts!

Why don't you design something and let folks critique your idea and help you improve it.
Good idea. I've got like a REALLY rough idea of what I'd like to do, and I'll try and scan it in tonight.
I've designed a building that's roughly between 3100 and 3500 SQ FT
you can see it here
WOW!! That's almost exactly what I was thinking about. I logged on to post my crappy little MS Paint sketch, but that is really what I was looking for. Let us know how it turns out, and if it's OK with you I want to use this design as a reference when I hire a designer.
Thanks again!!

Go ahead use it as a reference. If you'd like I can send you the dxf file to give to your architect. This studio is years away from being built. Don't have the property to build and don't have good enough credit to get the property. Being in debt is a vicious cycle. But I'll get it straightened out one day. Actually just sat down today and designed a 9000 sq ft facility.
Thanks, I'd love to have the file. And I'd really like to see the 9000 sq ft one....Ahh, to dream....
