Finally I have got myself a spare room for my recording gear, and once again it is a basement :D . I know it is not much but it is better than nothing, right
And this is where you guys come in to the picture. I find it very hard to find a studio layout that uses the full potential of the room.
Here is the current layout:

And I will just ad a couple of pictures

At first I was thinking about something like this

But this was drawn before I had the chance to check out the room and the water heater seams to be in the way.
I can not put up any walls because the owner of the house will not let me. Therefore any walls must be removable, I do not find this to be a big problem as I do not need any sound proof walls anyway.
But I was thinking about building these removable walls to make the mixing environment better… my friend build these for his own studio for multiple purposes

I need to have room for my mixer, monitors, keyboard and a double rack in the "control room/area".
I need the studio to be a good room for songwriting, I would like to be able to record my guitar amp(not the one on the picture :D ) and do some vocals but the rest will be done in the computer. I have the drum set just for fun but I might record a couple of demos with it, but please note that it is not the heart of the studio.
So do you have any ideas?
Thanks
Peter
