first off, this is a great forum. i've searched and researched time and again and have learned a ton. thank you for making this great site available.
now to my project: there is a section of our garage that was wasted with storage (see picture). since, i have rearranged and cleared out this space. i am left with a working area of 14' long, 10' wide, 7'-9' high (see picture. loft on part makes it 7').

i have been renting basement space to record some local artists, but that is not working out very well. with this new space, and with your help, i plan on designing and constructing a studio that i can track, mix, and edit some artists/bands from my home.
i would like to have two rooms, separated by some sort or barrier. one for a control room, and one for live tracking. i created an extremely rough paint file to illustrate my setup.

right now i'm definitely in the planning phase, trying to get the layout together. i hope to get some input from people who know much more than myself (that being you guys), and as soon as i do so, my father and i will begin getting materials together and building.
so my main question is - how should i use the small space that i have to effectively create space for control room and tracking purposes?
any help is greatly appreciated. i look forward to being part of this forum and getting my new studio together! thank you.

BIG Dreams for a SMALL Room (10' x 14')

I think trying to squeeze 3 rooms into such a small space is near impossible. Stick with just one room, and make a few portable screens for recording purposes, a vocal booth is not an essential.
Also consider that if you intend to soundproof this in any way you'll lose about 6 inches from each side, means your floorspace will only be 9x13, tight but still doable.
Do lots (and I means hours & hours) of reading on this site, and in the construction part of the forum before buying/building anything!
Also I'd recommending updating your profile to include your location, otherwise you'll get a good b*llocking from site admin!
Good luck, keep us posted!

thanks for the replies everyone. i wasn't sure if this was an ideal project or not, and now it looks as if it needs some tweaking to optimize performance. i'll continue my research. thank you.
also, i made sure to change my location before i posted because i read the "read this first" thread - did it not show up?
thanks.
