hi everyone, been lurking for a while now trying to figure out my dilemma....
i have severe space restraints and am hoping to build the best listening environment i can in far from ideal conditions. how far from ideal you wonder? well, i will be working under a bed.... which will be lofted 4'2" off the floor. my "studio nook" is going to be against a wall in a room that is 11'x11'x99"(H), just enough room for me to sit.
the lofted bed frame (which i can build all inside and around to my hearts content) is 51"(H, though has joists so there is about 4 more inches once you're underneath)X68"(L) X 58" (W).
my first thoughts were to build a shell of 703 panels, or something to that effect, around the nook. my thouhts now are leaning to treating the top with 703 panels (it's just bare OSB as of right now, with a mattress on top), leaving the sides open and treating the rest of the room with traps instead.
again, my goal is not to create a recording studio, but rather, to make the best of a crappy situation. this is a live/work space so it has to serve two functions. i'm just looking for ideas about the best ways to use the space i have, or to not use it, is this a bad idea? thanks in advance for taking me seriously, i know this is kind of ridiculous.
josh--
studio nook? am i crazy? yes.

Josh, nothing's ridiculous if it's the best you can do at the time - I'd keep the 703 (or rockwool) around the edges to minimise room interaction, and if your speakers have any kind of bass compensation use it (less bass) to help minimise the serious proximity effect of such a small space. Good luck... Steve
