I'm seeking input from all of you with more experience with this.
I currently have a project sudio that accomodates full ensembles. I'm planning on moving to a larger space with acoustic drums.(instead of the present electronic drum kit)
Because I play keyboards and run the DAW aswell, the mix position and outboard will have to be in the same room with the other instruments, including the drums. Should the drums be placed in total acoustic isolation or should I just marginally seperate the drums from the rest with strategically placed acoustic treatment? There will be a vocal booth as well, that will serve multiple duty for vox, horns etc.
We're talking jazz, jazz fusion, blues and funk, no heavy metal or hard rock.
Drum Isolation-How much?

Hi froz
You might want the drums isolated when you are tuning your mics/gear to record. Or else you wont know exactely what you put on tape. (unless you record and listen an tweak and record and listen an tweak..........)
I often need to play a lot of instruments and in the same time be a engeneere and a producere and....
Here is a good solution:
