Hey guys:
I'm moving into a new apartment, where my bedroom will have to double as a studio. We'll be making custom furniture for this room, but the interior designer has no experience in acoustics, so I will basically have to tell him where to place things and have him work around it. There are several catches:
1) The room has to still look aesthetically pleasing as a bedroom
2) There has to be shelving since I need to place my stuff somewhere... and the shelves obviously cannot be right next to the windows...
The designer seems to have some nice ideas aesthetically, but not acoustically. One thing I figured was, given the current state of the design, if the bottommost platform in the shelf was lowered to match the height of the desk, then I might be able to place my speakers on the desk and avoid there being a barrier directly behind the speakers. Also, I'd like to get the speaker placement/listening position as optimal as possible even without using acoustic treatments. I'm sure you guys have much better ideas, so please help! :)
Thanks!
