Hello - I've been sneaking around this site for awhile - love it! I am sooo new to recording - but a vet when it comes to being in a studio as a performer. All of a sudden a lot of great equipment (mackie 32-8 baord, mpc200xl, digi002r, etc...) has landed on my lap - so what am i gonna do - of course build a studio. I will be turning a single car garage into the studio - the dimensions are 20'x11'. I want a control room and 1 iso. Can you all help me?

Hi jaebee, sure you will get lot's of precious help around here, but to get a rough idea of what you want, you should do a little reading first. Then it's easier to deal with specific questions that you have. I'm pretty new to studiobuilding too, read tons of info for many month now, digested the basics and still learning..... :) It's worth it cause you'll learn a lot. It's good to know the basics of why you build a wall like you do or why you use a certain kind of absorbtion in a certain place. read this: http://www.saecollege.de/reference_material/index.html http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2125 http://forum.studiotips.com/viewforum.p ... 226b7354d0 http://www.johnlsayers.com/HR/index1.htm Florian :D
Thanks for the links - i have been reading as much as I can for a few months now... got a pretty good grasp of basics. I am just stumped with design ideas - i've seen some postings on similar size rooms... but wondering if the great talent out there can help.
hi, maybe this gives you something to think about. It's an adapted BrianG plan. You will have to work this out "dimensionwise" and I don't know if a sliding glassdoor in the front of the console is an option for you which you would need in this particualr case. Could you make a seperate door into the booth? Then you would come away with a "normal" window.
