latelly, I have been pretty much awared that the sound out of my room just doesn't match the quality of my gear and recording skills. Here is an image of my room : (sorry if the image really isn't very good...)

(link : www.multimania.com/tenkas/plan.jpg) The disposition of my monitors are not accurate on the drawing because they aren't perpendiculare with my head. My monitors are at ear level and they do an equilateral triangle with my head. Let me explain the drawing : The door is a metal outdoor door. The yellow things along the walls are 24"x48 3inch roxul safe n sound rockwool wrapped in garbage bags. The drum is on a carpet, the ceiling is 7feet 8". The drums sound pretty bad when recorded and my monitors have many dips in certain frequencies (I did some basic measurements and I have some 10db dips!!!). I have been living in this studio for a year and I can't stand it anymore, I would like to improve the sound. I would really like to know exactly what are the best options, because I have been told that the wall units would be great, but I dunno exactly which one to do, how to fit it, etc etc etc. Feel free to help, and thanks everyone for all of you help.
Do anyone think their is an alternative to this or did I do the best I could have probably done, and nothing more can be done?
Hi, just a quick idea 4 you. Also do cornertraps in the wall/ceiling corners! A cloud over the mix position and broadbandtrapping behind the speakers. You can also vary acoustics with clouds and gobos when recording drums. All this you can make yourself relativly cheap if you got basic "woodworker" skills. Hope that gets you started 4 own ideas. :D Florian
