http://www.portlandartstudios.com/images/cpp6.jpg I guess I can use the room on the left for monitoring and the room on the right for drums. The Big space is for chamber and acoustic groups where capturing of all of the instruments together is needed. Ani ideas for how to use the space? Should I remove the seeling to open more space? THANKS It is 700 feet2. I will try to search this forum for other stuff I need to know. Thanks
Hi chupy, Have a floorplan with dimensions? How much soundproofing do you need? Is this an acoustical tile ceiling? If so mabe it gives you already a nice sound in the room. I would try before tearing it off. The supposed CR looks claustrophobic in the picture, what dimensions? You need to give more information so the guys here can help you. the space is rectangular. The rooms are rectangular as well.700 sq feet. I will use that space for tracking mostly. Is it that bad if I have small control room? Cause I do my mixing and mastering at my home in my bedroom. And is higher seeling better for tracking?? I guess I can raise it with 3 more feet...

What is the purpose of the question? Do you want to know about acoustic treatment?
Is it that bad if I have small control room?
I assume not. But it all depends on "how" small it is :D But I'm not a pro, just a student like you. What is the length/width/hight? Where would you like to sit? Is this a window at the right side of the CR?

Chupy - if you are stuck using the left room for control room and the right room for drums etc what about the main room?? I'd treat the left room for mixing - i.e. lower the reverbtime and tighten it up. then I'd build a series of moveable panels, on wheels, that have heavy absorption surfaces on one side and reflective, diffusive treatment on the other. Then you could wheel them into the right room if you want to record in there, or you could set them up in the big room and record in there. OR you could set up the mixing in the main room, using moveable panels, and set up the other two rooms for recording. cheers john
where can I read about movble panels ? I want to have the main room open for acoustic ansambles.
http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewt ... light=gobo In the very first post in this thread there is a, link to Johns Gobo plan. I would also make some kind of portable corner-broadband-trap on wheels, which you can move in the corner where the door is, when mixing. on which side of the CR are your monitors? If they are on the leftside, with the window to the drumroom as the backwall, you really need some kind of absorbtive Gobo there.
