I have a somewhat odd-shaped control room. Its 12.5' * 4.8'. Pics are attached. There's a bit of Auraflex on the side walls, on my toolbox, and the ceiling, and 8 Leonard bass traps at the ceiling where I could fit them in. (btw, I didn;t notice any significant difference in a RTA with and without the Auraflex Leonard Traps - they probably were a waste of money). This room also acts as a storage room for books and some small gear. I currently have my Tannoy Reveal (passive) monitors on one end by the mixing desk in a vertical orientation. I want to change them to a horizontal orientation and put them on a shelve at ear-height with the tweeters against the wall to free up some desk space. I am wondering if it will make much difference in this cramped area whether I have the speakers vertical or horizontal. I've run a test and I can't tell that much difference, but it may be becuase the room is a bad design in the first place. fwiw, I use a Behringer UltraCurve and the RTA to 'balance' the speakers to the room. Ya, I know traps and all would be better, but this small space is what I'm going to have to deal with for the next 10 years. Q's 1) Should it make much difference to rotate my speakers to the horizontal? 2) Any ideas for ways to improve the control room acoustics? (fwiw, if you look across the top of the front shot, you'll see 2 Leonard bass traps and the hole the the right is where the AC comes into the room. I had to box around the AC vent becuase it is very loud.)

just for fun, here's my tracking/rehearsal room. It's about 12' * 12'. I have to get 6 people in here (with drums and keyboards) for rehearsals. It's pretty close-quarters but I prefer it over ourprevious 'huge' rehearsal space where everyone stood 15 feet apart. We communicate much better standing/sitting in a circle. Just outside the 'storm door' (window door) is the remaining 6' of my one car garage, where the Harley and golf cart are parked. The 'home made speakers' on the walls are actually vintage Altec 421a's with some horns and crossovers I added. Although they look like crap, they sound quite good (with a Behringer UltraCurve RTA designed EQ) :).
