I've been using the search for weeks getting ideas, and here's my layout. I want two or three iso booths (one for drums), a control room, and a larger room for multiple musicians or drums if I go that way. I'm leaning towards the control room to the far right of the picture, with a booth just to the right of the steps. The angles and room sizes are giving me fits. Any help is much appreciated. How would you do it? Thanks, Brien

John, thanks for the reply, and the major upgrade on my picture. Your layout is basically the one I keep going back to, but a couple of questions. On the far right wall of the diagram are two escape windows that I can't build over, what's the best way to deal with them? Are you installing those monitors into the wall like in the pic? How much extra isolation will I get from the double wall with the sliding door and window to the booth? Thanks, Brien
Also, How wide should I go at the widest part of the control room? Brien
sorry - I didn't see those and you gotta have them.
tell me about the stairs - do they come out where I drew the door?? and what's that stuff between the HVAC room and teh stairs - I can't understand your writing.
cheers

John, The stairs come out right where you drew the door, although it's not currently framed with a door at the bottom of the steps. The area behind the steps and beyond the HVAC are crawl spaces. The one beyond the HVAC is actually pretty big (12'x14'x5' ceiling), but access is difficult due to the entrance being raised and only a 3.5'x3.5' opening-it's really a shame, there's some cool reverb in there though. Anyway, that's why I'm avoiding building a room to the left of the stairs, I'll just put a closet there I guess for access purposes. The room where the HVAC is however is quite big 14'x17' approx. and I fully intend on framing out a room in there, approx. 8'x10'. Brien
so could you do somerthing like this?

I love the different ideas. Don't forget, there's another decent size tracking room to the left on my original drawing that I'm trying to consider for sight lines, though if I placed sliders in the right place I could probably make it work. If I did put the control room in the middle, like in the last diagram, would it be imperative to block off the bottom of the steps with a door? What type of dimensions do you feel are sufficient for the control room? Thanks for all of the help. Brien
